Saturday Dec 12th 6 PM

Check out the second new webcam, Big thanks to Terry L  and Bruce A!

We are getting snow! it is not much yet but is encouraging. The snow started an hour ago and is dense. The ground is frozen, and our base is established, We just need an inch or so to get us going with more trails open!

This morning we groomed  (Texturized) the 2.5 km loop…had to shovel some thin spots. ‘Doable” with B skis. We also texturized about 17 km of alternate trails, dead end trails etc. Skiers found their way around following the groomed trails. these trails needed rock skis.

We will back out in the AM taking care of the trails, My guess is they will be improved from today with the new snow dusting.

Friday Dec 11th

We had 3 Gators out today texturizing the surface. The 2.5 km loop was covered with no bare spots…but was as thin as can be and stay white. We texturized that loop. Then we explored and headed out to texturize on :Pit point thin w grass spots , Popple thin with grass spot deadend at road and turn around, Memory: 2 way good till pines then grass for 100 yards then the loop is skiable , River west thin w grass areas,  Sulos is not open, Bards exit is OK to Sulos, Blueberry to cold feet is thin, blueberry exit is good except one thin small hill, and Meadow is covered. Remember “Good” is good rock skiing not good normal skiing. Recreational skiers will most likely not be happy with the thin bumpy conditions.

we plan to texturize the trails again in the AM

Thursday Dec 10 5:30 PM

We survived the past 2 days of warmth and are going ahead with being open tomorrow at 9 AM . There are 2.5 km rated for B skis and 17 km rated for Rock skis. The base is thin on the trails but very skiable; the 17 km of rock skiing has some grassy areas to ski on, the 2.5 km is covered with white. Our “Trail recon patrol” skied 44 km today in his work out today doing the 2.5 km on B skis”  We will be out in the AM providing some texture to the snow for skiing.

All the comments we are hearing are  ” I have never skied at ABR with such little snow ; however we had fun and it was good to get up north and out in the woods.”

Monday 7:30 PM

Just coming from checking trails, They are improved from the weekend with the snow dusting. We did not or are not planning to regroom tomorrow. we had about 20 skiers today…favorable comments. still thin and rock skis or b skis . Looking at the forecast we are planning to stay open tomorrow and then close for Wednesday and Thursday when the temps are above freezing. We plan to reopen Friday and if the forecast snow is correct conditions will improve rapidly.
