The temps did not freeze last night and the trails are soft. We closed the 3 trails Peltonen, Hautanen and Coyote with big hills to preserve snow for the SISU Sat AM. There are icy patches as well today. We will not be grooming until very late tonight when the trail freezes. We do not suggest skate skiing today on the trails due to the softness.
Nice skiing again today
We groomed about 30 km of the SISU Trail this morning and put up K markers. The trail is well covered and was dry cold powder. The classic track looked in very good shape in most areas, a few corners blown out and a few areas glazed. We closed Hautanenen and Coyote to preserve snow for Saturday that we shoveled on them and groomed over.
The SISU starts at 9 AM here at ABR on Saturday, it will be on 30 k of the ABR Trails. There will be 30-40 km of classic only trails for the classic skiers Saturday AM but there will only be a 4 km loop for skaters until noon when the entire course will be open for skating and classic on the 30 k.
Snow is holding up well
The snow is holding up well on the trails. High winds today brought down some pine needles and small debris and leaves that caused grief with the kick wax. We will be out in the AM sweeping the trails, putting up K markers and regrooming.
Kids Race Today
Over 100 kids had an event at ABR Trails today. Sunny skies 30 degrees F and cold dry powder mader for a perfect day for the 2 k event. (pictures by Betsy Wesselhoft)

We groomed the SISU Race Course today Start to Finish….42 km! What a fun project.
Bad news: the trail is a bit sof t fro the new snow.
Good News: the trail is well covered and really starting to smooth out,
We will be regrooming all of the classic only trails in the AM….about 30 km .
We will be doing some touch up grooming of the skate lanes and tracks as well.
