It was nice skiing today, John reported French Silk Pie at 10 AM, Birdman Bob reported nice skiing at 1 PM and a rare American 3 toed woodpecker on the White Pine Trail. Angela reported cold dry powder in the wooded shaded areas and warm snow in the open areas when she skied at 3 PM. 47 Team Gogebic members had a nice ski from 4 PM to dark and some reported conditions were starting to ice up AT DUSK.
The base is thick and we will run the Pisten Bully and powertiller along with the Sherpa and Ginzu in the morning to groom up some of the trails. It will not be all 60 + km of trails but we will have some nice skiing.
Monday
One of our local “dessert” skiers described skiing as “French Silk Pie”; one of our “desert” skiers from the south described skiing as “caviar”. Pig Heart ran the PB this morning and Wully Bully ran the John Deere Gator and groomer. about 32 k were regroomed this morning after the inch of new snow.
Sunday with the sun out
It is getting boring telling you the snow is perfect, skiing is perfect and it is great skiing. What made a real impression on me today was not Angela coming in from skiing and ranting and raving to me how good the glide was, or a season pass holder telling me they had first tracks on fresh cordoroy, it was not the racer training for the SISU telling me there was a pine cone on the trail and bird tracks across the fresh tracks. What made an impression was seeing the 5 families skiing here for 4 days staying in the rustic cabins and having fun and being happy. We have seen them here for years and it is fun to see them and their children grow up and continue to enjoy skiing. That’s why we have been here for 17 years.
Saturday
Skiing was nice today . The new snow groomed in well on all 66 km. We got another 2 inches on top of the grooming during the day. I am just coming from grooming the P’s tonight with the Pisten Bully and the new snow is grooming very well again. We will have all trails regroomed for you at 9 AM
More snow today
It has been snowing, we are up to about 2 inches and it continues to snow. The new snow should groom into the base nicely. We have 5 groomers scheduled to groom early in the AM so the trails should be perfect for 9 AM.
