Groomers have been out again smoothing out the base that was rolled yesterday and we are settign tracks too. Soem thin areas but overall super for the first day of skiing!
Ready to go
The snowfall so far is 12 inches and it is snowing. What a long day…. and the last groomer is still out. The base is packing to about 3-4 inches with no significant bare spots as of tonight We have a few thin areas under Pines and on wind blown ridges but it is looking pretty good. We are grooming about 27 km for skating / classic on the wide combo trails and 13 km is being packed for the stride only trails. We have been focused on packing today (and not leveling or smoothing) to allow the base to freeze tonight. We will be out early in the AM to run the other groomers to level out and track set if possible. We always suggest rock skis for the first opening day, but we may have enough base in the AM for good skis on some of the trails. My guess is the trails will still be soft in the morning and a bit bumpy but pretty well covered. As of tonight there are no tracks (grooves) for the classic skiers Trails open at 9 AM CST.

22 degrees and it continues to snow. The groomers have been out all day and are still out. The trail is freezing down and packing down. We will open for skiing at 9 AM Saturday.

Woke up to winter! Groomers are headed out, we hope to open for skiing Saturday, I will update soon with pictures.

Good News
It is snowing and 33 degrees. The winds are from the NW, the forecast is favorable. Trails are mowed, firewood is stacked, Ski shop is set, parking lot is ready, grooming equipment is ready to go and we have 3 groomers coming in in the AM and 2 on call.
Bad News
We have bare ground that was froze but thawed with the last fews days of 40-50 degree temps. The forecasts are calling for 1-8 inches from what I have seen.
If it is possible to ski here we will make it happen. The very earliest that we would open for skiing would be Saturday, not Friday. The SKI SHOP SALE is 20-50% off this Saturday 10-4
