Another nice day of skiing.

The snow has stopped and we had a morning off from grooming. The trails are skiing well and we will be touching them up with 3 groomers  in the early AM …maybe with a dusting of snow.

The base is holding up well and is still significant

I expect Friday and Saturday to continue to be fine for good skiing, I am wondering what will happen for Sunday. My guess is that the trails will take some wear on Sat and we may get a few thin areas or bare spots. Saturday even if the temps stay above freezing the trails may ice up and we will have to work hard to regroom for Sunday without bringing up dirt in a few areas. I did bring out the Pisten Bully today so we do have some options. We will not close unles the snow melts or becomes un skiable.

Skiing

The skiing has been getting better every day. We started with 12 inches of snow and basically ahve been getting 1-4 inches daily. This is allowing us to contune to level the trails and reset classic tracks daily. We have 40 km in real nice shape and are packing and freezing an additional 30 km the last 3 days. It looks like a good forecast for skiing.

More Snow

We are getting snow again tonight. The groomers are just coming in from grooming and the trails are smoothing out and stiffening up well. The base trails were regroomed again tonight and retracked, skiing on 30 k has been very good.  I groomed Peltonen Pass Out tonight and set track and it is getting real smoot. I was curious and to see how Sulos was this morning and groomed Sulos early this morning and it is freezing down well. Groomers were out on the south 30 km today all day and it is packing in well. The trails are really shaping up and it is the best opener for conditions thatI can remember in 18 years. We set and reset  classic track 3 times so far.

Skiing reports from today

“Never seen the first day so smooth”

“Can not believe there are full depth classic tracks”

“You are really renting equpment?”

“I did not hit or see any rocks bbut it is soft…how much snow did you get?”

“Where is everyone?”

Groomers are just coming in tonight . The trails did get use today and it helped ski in all the fresh snow. the groomers tonight leveled out the trails and they should freeze up well. It is snowing and we already have snow covering the cord so of course we will be back out in the early AM .

We are grooming 40 km of trails and we will be starting to pack in another 30 km of trails as of Sunday.
