Wednesday…(Hilltop House is open for the Weekend)

We are back to excellent skiing with the cold temps and the 8-10 inches of new snow! We are grooming 55 k and skiing about 40 km today. We hope to be skiing all 70 k by the weekend. The warm temps put alo tof water in the Montreal River that is our West boundary. When the River Floods it makes slush in a few areas such as Sulos Loop, the Highlands entrance and a 4 foot stretch of Jack Pine. The Highlands entrance is freezing tonight we packed the Highlands today and it is is great shape other than the entrance. The Sulos section and Jack pine should be frozen by Friday. We are skiing on 40 km today that is in excellent shape and can be skied with your best race skis (12 inches of base). He hope to have another 30 k open for the weekend!DSC02243DSC02240

Tuesday night

The cold temps and new snow has turned ABR back into a Winter Wonderland!Second shift groomers are just coming in and the trail is looking pristine. We are now grooming and skiing 30 k of trails and we will continue grooming and freezing the other 40 k of trail from Sulos to the Highlands and south Wednesday.  The base is very thick, just a few wet areas and we can get all 70 k open again.

Tuesday 8 AM update

It is 24 degrees and we have received 2-3 inches of snow so far as it continues to snow lightly. The groomers are out. So far we have 18 k groomed for skating and 24 km trackset. We will groom more as the wet areas freeze up.

Winter ordered back for ABR

We have an order in for the cold temps and a bit of fresh snow to freshen up the trails. It looks like it is coming!

We have a crew coming in the early AM to groom and we hope to reopen at 9 AM after a restful day off today.

Closed for Monday

photoWe are closing Monday for the day to let the temps cool down and will resume grooming and skiing Tuesday at 9 AM. We still have plenty of snow but are going to close for Monday since the skiing will not be the safe and top notch conditions we are used to here at ABR.
